Profile / Bio: 

Dr. Peter du Pont has more than 30 years’ experience developing sustainable energy and efficiency programs in the U.S. and Asia. Since 1989, he has worked extensively throughout the Asia region, in NGO, private-sector, and government-sector organizations to design and advise on the implementation of clean energy strategies and initiatives. Dr. du Pont has developed national energy-saving plans for Thailand and Vietnam; has directed an international non-profit organization working on energy efficiency issues; has served as Secretariat to APEC’s Expert Group on Energy Efficiency and Conservation; and between 2006-2011 led the USAID ECO-Asia Clean Development and Climate Program (ECO-Asia). While managing ECO-Asia, he spearheaded the expansion of the Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) into four countries in Asia – China, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. From 2011 to 2015, he managed the development of Nexant’s clean energy business in the Asia region, working with government and private-sector partners to design effective policy and programmatic frameworks for clean energy.

Peter served as Senior Climate Change Advisor for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), based in Asia from 2016-2017, where he provided technical oversight and worked with colleagues on the development of programs and procurements covering clean energy, sustainable landscapes, and urban resilience.
