Barry Eichengreen is Professor of Economics and Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a columnist for Project Syndicate.

His recent books are Hall of Mirrors: The Great Depression, the Great Recession, and the Uses—and Misuses—of History (forthcoming 2014); From Miracle to Maturity: The Growth of the Korean Economy with Dwight Perkins and Kwanho Shin ( 2012); The World Economy after the Global Financial Crisis, co-edited with Bokyeong Park (2012); and Exorbitant Privilege: The Rise and Fall of the Dollar and the Future of the International Monetary System (2011).

He was named one of Foreign Policy magazine's 100 Leading Global Thinkers in 2011.
