In this presentation, the author gave an overview of the economic progress, social development, and demographic transition in Malaysia. He also discussed the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016-2020), which gives emphasis on increasing productivity through workforce skill development, innovation and ICT, and the adoption of modern technology. He also presents some evidence-based recommendations on how to maximize the gains from longevity and long working life, including the provision of special training to older workers, changing the attitudes of employers and workers, and the introduction of age-friendly technology to facilitate the employment of older workers.
