Profile / Bio: 

Ramola Naik Singru is a Principal Urban Development Specialist with the Asian Development Bank with over 23 years of experience.

She is leading investment projects for developing livable cities (green, inclusive, competitive) and delivering climate-resilient urban infrastructure and services. She leads innovative initiatives for livable cities, regional cooperation, and tourism. She led the development of Integrated Urban Action Plans (IUAPs) in Georgia and Green City Action Plans (GCAP) in several cities through participatory planning.

A few of her publications are Creating Livable Cities: Regional Perspectives, GrEEEn Solutions for Livable Cities, Manual for undertaking National Urban Assessments and Enabling Inclusive Cities. Her research interests are urban livability, equitable futures, and climate-resilient growth. Prior to joining ADB as a staff, she worked as an International Consultant for ADB, UN-Habitat, Cities Development Initiative for Asia, the private sector, and the academe.

She holds a master’s degree in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK, and a bachelor's (Hons.) degree in Architecture from India. She read for a Ph.D. (all but a dissertation) in Urban and Regional Planning at the LSE, UK.
