Profile / Bio: 

Mr. Hideaki Iwasaki joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2002.

Mr. Iwasaki has 33 years of professional work experience, primarily in the infrastructure sector and in regional development.

As Deputy Director General, Mr. Iwasaki oversees ADB’s operations in the Pacific region comprising 14 developing member countries (the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu) to help build resilience against economic shocks, deliver sustainable services, and promote inclusive and sustainable growth.

Before joining ADB, Mr. Iwasaki worked for the Government of Japan for 12 years in the areas of policy development and program administration in transport infrastructure development and urban/regional programs.

Mr. Iwasaki has master’s and bachelor’s degrees in urban planning from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and a master’s degree in transportation engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.
