Mr. Peter Marro, a national from Switzerland, joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1999, where he worked for over 7 years in the Private Sector Operations Department of the ADB. During this tenure, he processed multiple private sector projects and transactions in a wide range of ADB’s developing member countries in various areas of financial sector development such as infrastructure and housing finance, SME support, leasing, insurance, capital markets infrastructure (central depositories, credit rating agencies, credit information bureaus, etc.), and private equity funds.
Since 2006, he has been assigned to the Financial Sector, Public Management, and Trade Division of the South Asia Department of ADB as a Principal Financial Sector Specialist, where he has been involved in the non-sovereign and sovereign operations of ADB designing and implementing a number of innovative transactions to majority government-owned financial intermediaries, using credit guarantee schemes, primarily in the area of infrastructure finance and SME support. Over the last 16 years, Peter has worked extensively with financial institutions in connection with domestic and international finance transactions, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, structured finance, project finance, bridge loans, participations and syndications, subordinated debt facilities, letter of credit facilities, and other credit-related transactions. He has a special interest in interventions involving South Asian Countries, in particular India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
Mr. Marro has a Master of Science from the University of Bern. Prior to joining ADB, he has worked extensively in leading private sector commercial banks and companies in Singapore, the Philippines, and Switzerland.
