Opening Remarks: Digitizing and Tokenizing the Bamboo Supply Chain using Blockchain – A Pilot Project
08 October 2025

The presentation outlined a pilot project to digitize and tokenize the bamboo supply chain in the Philippines using blockchain technology, supported by ADB and partners. It introduced Farmer360, a digital platform with monitoring, reporting, and verification (dMRV) to improve farmer incomes, enhance efficiency, and enable traceability. The project demonstrated blockchain’s role in ensuring transparency, data ownership, and supply chain financing, with pilots in Bukidnon and Leyte geotagging bamboo clumps and tracking transactions. Key observations included challenges in connectivity, market demand, and farmer organization, while recommendations focused on scaling digitization, improving processing and manufacturing, and leveraging carbon credit opportunities.
