The Final Report of the Penang Smart Mobility Micro-Simulation Model Development Project of the ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Trust Fund (AASCTF) provides a full summary of the intervention delivered with the support and collaboration of the City Council of Penang Island (MBPP) and other related agencies, together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

The report presents the rationale of the project and objectives, review of existing transport plans in Penang, traffic surveys conducted, and the actions taken under Stages 1 and 2 of the micro-simulation model development. After completing and testing the model, the project also prepared potential use cases for the micro-simulation modeling and recommendations for the Traffic Impact Assessment Guidelines. This report also includes a chapter on gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) as a pathway forward for improving traffic management and mobility in Penang. Lastly, the report captures the superuser training delivered to selected MBPP staff and the model handover.

The report has a separate Appendix for more details. For a complete understanding of this project, please see the 'Read Also' side box on the righthand of this page for other project reports. This AASCTF Penang project is financed by the Australian Government (through DFAT), managed by the Asian Development Bank, and implemented by Ramboll.
