A background on the world’s flyways and the work of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) is presented together with the key migratory waterbird species in Thailand. The site selection process undertaken by the Regional Flyway Initiative (RFI) is also explained and the priority wetland sites in Thailand is presented after considering biodiversity data and conservation potential of the wetlands. From a preliminary list of 18 sites assessed, 12 priority sites have been identified in the country, composed of 9 coastal and 3 freshwater wetlands
