Enabling Energy Transition in Southeast Asia: Mechanisms and Initiatives
Southeast Asia’s energy demand is expected to increase exponentially, yet more needs to be done to accelerate the energy transition and enable countries to meet their net-zero targets. This thematic session at the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) fourth Southeast Asia Development Symposium (SEADS) discussed how available technologies could support the shift to clean and renewable energy, as well as how policy and legislation could attract private capital for the region’s energy investments.
The session was co-organized with ADB's ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility and Infrastructure Asia. With the theme, "Imagining a Net-Zero ASEAN," SEADS 2023 explored measures governments, communities, and the private sector could take to progress toward carbon neutrality.
