Learning Video 5: How can resilience of the urban poor be strengthened at the city level?

06 February 2023

The urban poor in Asia and the Pacific are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. This learning video series provides an overview of what stakeholders from across three different levels – household, community, and city – can do to strengthen the resilience of the urban poor and vulnerable communities. Pro-poor solutions across six policy areas (social protection, public health, livelihood, housing, community infrastructure, and urban planning) need to be put into place and/or strengthened, with the urban poor involved as active partners throughout the process. The video series also presents three enabling factors that are needed to ensure that introduced or strengthened interventions will be sustainable and result in transformational change that will benefit not only the urban poor but societies as a whole.
