[VIDEO] Nudging by Beauty: Improving Women’s Health1 Decisions and Well-being in the Field
Health interventions often show limited effectiveness in influencing behavior as they fail to take into account the choice architecture. To shed light on how to improve health interventions, we evaluate a unique intervention in rural Bangladesh that highlights the importance of health, hygiene, and nutrition for beauty and condition of the skin. The intervention is designed to exploit the fact that women are sensitive to beauty. We find that the intervention has a substantial impact on beauty and health-related outcomes. It also improves the social relationships and subjective well-being of the women receiving the intervention.
