The Thilawa Special Economic Zone is the first operational SEZ in Myanmar and one of the largest industrial development. Thilawa SEZ recognized the need for proper hazardous material management in addition to waste management to avoid accidents such as chemical accidents and explosions. It has adopted aspects of health impact assessment as a risk management tool, as well as a management tool for healthy economic zones development.
