India aims to make its power sector secure, adaptive, sustainable, and digitally enabled. It established the National Smart Grid Mission in 2015 to oversee and accelerate all smart grid initiatives in the country. To date, it has already installed more than 60,000 smart meters, implemented 12 smart grid pilot projects, and conducted several capacity-building activities.
