The annual celebration of International Women's Day is a long-standing tradition within ADB and serves as an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to gender equality and reflect on gender issues that affect women, globally. 

This year, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa, Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa, is ADB's esteemed speaker.  She shared her reflections on and firsthand experience of the challenges faced by women who aspire to be in leadership positions.  She advocated for women in decision-making roles to, "Keep an eye out for women," by reforming and building capacities of institutions and authorities to ensure that they are supportive of women, especially women leaders.
