Recent years have witnessed a rising wave of advanced middle-income countries (AMICs) in Asia. AMICs differ from lower middle-income countries in a number of ways as enumerated in this presentation. Economic upgrading and political management are highlighted as solutions to the economic and political challenges facing AMICs.
