The Asian Development Bank (ADB) implemented a regional technical assistance, TA 8566: Mainstreaming Integrated Solid Waste Management in Asia, to conduct an assessment of solid waste management practices in five case study cities (CSCs) in Asia and to provide recommendations and best practices that can guide municipalities, ADB project officers and others on how to improve proper waste management and achieve a clean, livable city. The five cities in focus are Buriram and Mahasarakham in Thailand, Mandalay (Myanmar), and Quezon City and Sorsogon City in the Philippines.

This report is formulated based on the climate change actions and vulnerabilities which cause drastic changes than the normal routine of the three selected countries. This report details on the major vulnerabilities that these countries are bound to be exposed, due to the climate change. The impact of climate change on implementing SWM projects is discussed. The report also recommends the possible mitigation options for SWM as a preventive measure from climate change vulnerabilities.
