Workshop on Political Economy Analysis

08 October 2013 to 09 October 2013
Manila
Philippines

At the Asian Development Fund (ADF) Replenishment meetings in 2011 and 2012, ADF donors emphasized the importance of understanding the political economy of developing member countries (DMCs) in the development operations of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the region. The ADB Board of Directors had also asked for political economy analysis (PEA) to be made an integral part of assessments of the country and sector situation in the development of new programs, projects, and partnership strategies. A guidance note was prepared to explain political economy and delimits the scope of what is included in the PEA. This workshop aimed to develop a toolkit to guide staff members in carrying out PEA.
