Virtual Workshop on Water and Sanitation 28 to 29 October 2021 Part of an ADBI series on water and sanitation in Asia, this virtual workshop featured keynote remarks on water supplies and safe sanitation development by Sebastian Galiani, Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland, and Meera Mehta, Professor Emeritus at CEPT University in India and Executive Director of the Center for Water and Sanitation. On Day 1, Galiani examined the characteristics of the water and sanitation sector and the scope to improve it through the evaluation of related policies and the integration of policy design and evaluation. On Day 2, Meera discussed safe sanitation as an inclusive public service, universal access, and sustainability challenges, and how they can be addressed with the help of results-based funding and strong monitoring systems.
