Training on Wastewater Management Expert (WaMEX) Tool
National and city-level government officials from Asian Development Bank (ADB) members were introduced to and trained in the use of the Wastewater Management Expert Systems (WaMEX), an application that aims to help decision-makers and planners in designing options to address different wastewater management scenarios. Developed by ADB and UNESCO-IHE, WaMEX can be used by wastewater experts to start a plan from scratch, upgrade existing facilities, and prepare budgets for the plans.
ADB supported the WaMEX training through its regional initiative on "Promoting Innovations in Wastewater Management in Asia and the Pacific" that aimed to increase awareness and action to improve the existing urban sanitation conditions. The initiative is funded by the Water Financing Partnership Facility—ADB's pool of financial and knowledge resources from various donors that finances water and sanitation developments in the region.
