Smart Water System Workshop
The 1st Asia International Water Week (AIWW) was held on 20-22 Sep 2017 in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea with the slogan of “Asian Solution for Water”. AIWW is a triennial water gathering to share knowledge and experiences for resolving Asian water problems. As part of the sub-programs at the 1st AIWW, ADB co-organized a workshop on “Smart Water System” together with G-Best Water Research Center (WRC) under the Korea Environment Industry & Technology Institute, the Ministry of Environment.
The water management systems in Korea have been developed within a relatively short period time but many issues in water quality and water supply have been raised as the same speed and scale. The Korean water utilities together with relevant governments have learnt from the experiences addressing those problems.
The workshop is designed to improve understanding of the smart technologies for water management through some case studies in Korea focusing on key success factors and policy implications related to those programs. Specifically, Korean experiences from Daegu City and K-Water, a state own water utility company shared during the Forum together with key technologies applied for water supply and sanitation. The participants learned from key initiatives on smart water system implemented in Korea through site visits as well as interactive discussion sessions.
