Interns from the Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy completed their research internship in ADB.
 
Sarah Hui Li, presented on (i) municipal finance and policy options to improve the enabling institutional environment and instruments for Asia Pacific cities to be able to access long-term adequate financing and improve delivery of sustainable urban infrastructure and services; and (ii) data analysis of the transport situation in Asia Pacific megacities and using data to facilitate better policy and investment decision making for governments and development banks.

Yichen Zhu presented on aging and human resource development of elderly persons’ care in Singapore and the Philippines in both demand and supply side of the human resource supply chain. As aging has become a global phenomenon, OECD countries in the Asia and the Pacific are struggling with elderly persons’ care worker shortages due to demographic and social transition such as declining fertility rate and proliferation of nuclear families. Statistically speaking, there are 8.2 million long-term care workers missing in Asia. On the other hand, countries such as the Philippines and Indonesia have been training and sending care workers and nurses to aging countries in the region. However, a human resource gap still persists in the elderly care sector.
