Series: Joint Multilateral Development Bank Pavilion Mobilizing Capital for Biodiversity: Scaling Nature Finance through Capital Markets 27 October 2026 Armenia Despite growing global ambition and commitment to biodiversity conservation under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), many countries continue to face a critical financing gap and lack practical pathways to translate biodiversity ambitions into investable opportunities. This event will bring together governments, development partners, investors, standard setters, and capital market practitioners to discuss how nature finance can move from concept to implementation, drawing on real-world examples to demonstrate how scalable financing instruments, strong market infrastructure and partnerships can mobilize capital for biodiversity outcomes. The session will highlight the Government of Thailand's pioneering sovereign sustainability-linked bond, the first in Asia and the Pacific and among ADB's member countries, with a key performance indicator linked to achieving at least 30% coverage of terrestrial and inland water protected areas and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) by 2030. This target is aligned with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and Thailand's National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP). Supported by the ADB GSS+ Initiative, the transaction will serve as the pilot for the NSFH Nature Bond Incubator, a platform designed to help governments and other issuers develop a pipeline of nature finance transactions that connect biodiversity outcomes with capital markets. The platform will also be launched during the session.
