International Anticorruption Day 2018 - Securing the Future of Asia and the Pacific: Promoting Good Governance in Education and Environmental Management

The education sector and climate change have profound and lasting impacts on communities, especially in Asia where the largest number of poor and vulnerable populations are. An effective education sector and a climate change-resilient region are crucial drivers to the achievement of an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development. With these two in mind, the Asian Development Bank underscores the importance of these two sectors by seeking to understand the threats to a strong education sector and effective climate change interventions, with this year's International Anticorruption Day theme on Securing the Future of Asia and the Pacific: Promoting Good Governance in Education and Environmental Management.
 

Corruption undermines not just gains but the potentials of ADB's efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. This event highlighted the critical role of a clean governance and integrity violations-free developmental interventions, by providing a platform to bring to the open corruption practices in the sectors, and how policies help minimize the vulnerabilities of ADB and government initiatives to integrity violations and corrupt practices.
