Intangible Capital and GVCs in Asia and the Pacific: An Appraisal
12 August 2026

Investments in intangible capital, such as R&D, design, and software, are now central to global value creation. Since 2008, intangible investment has grown more than three times faster than tangible investment, yet its implications for Asia and the Pacific remain poorly understood.

This webinar explored the role of FDI in driving intangibles and how they can better support Asia’s industrial upgrading. Discussions will explore the role of key policies, including innovation, intellectual property, and human capital, to prepare the region to harness the benefits of intangibles.
