25 March 2021

via MS Teams

This knowledge sharing session provided updates on road safety interventions in specific DMCs, namely, developing road safety management in the remote, rural areas of Mongolia and empowering the youth towards safer roads in Samoa.
The challenges and knowledge gaps for rural and remote road safety in Mongolia were discussed, especially in with respect to the five pillars of the UN’s global plan for the decade of action on road safety. Findings and recommendations to improve road safety management in Mongolia were presented through case studies.

A representative from Youth for Asia presented a case for substantive youth leadership in road safety interventions in Asia and the Pacific. Building on an emerging project in Samoa and working within the safe system road safety paradigm, they will demonstrate the importance of empowering local youth to collect qualitative survey data on road safety, educate their peers, and advocate for broader policy change.
