Fiscal Space for Health and Resources to Finance Universal Health Coverage

Financing the health sector is a big challenge for many countries on the way to achieving universal health coverage.

Health financing challenges facing health systems across many low- and middle-income countries include those related to underfinancing of the sector; inefficient/inequitable financing; and/or the need to find replacement prepaid/pooled domestic financing as countries “graduate” and transition from external financing for health. ADB Health Specialist Rouselle Lavado talked about fiscal space for health and how various countries find resources to finance universal health coverage. This event is part of ADB's in-house "Health Talks" lecture series organized by the Health Sector Group.
