Distance Learning Reach and Effectiveness in South Asia during School Closures
17 to 24 June 2021

ADB and UNICEF shared their research findings on the reach and effectiveness of distance learning (including high, low & no tech) in South Asia.

The first webinar covered the context of household access and the use of technology for learning, and findings from surveys in South Asia. It discussed more in-depth the survey results from Bangladesh and Pakistan. The webinar series was opened by UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia Director, George Laryea-Adjei and ADB Director, Human and Social Development Division, South Asia Regional Department, Sungsup Ra, PhD. The moderators for the two webinars were Brajesh Panth, Chief of Education Sector Group, ADB, and Jim Acker, PhD, Regional Education Advisor, UNICEF South Asia. Researchers and experts from ADB and UNICEF presented the findings and analysis of surveys conducted on distance learning during 2020-2021 school closures.

On its second webinar, ADB and UNICEF discussed and reflected on effective ways of enhancing the reach, utilization, and effectiveness of distance learning, for better and more equitable learning outcomes.
