Design Inclusive Cities with Data-informed Tool 9 June 2023 In March 2023, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) awarded an approximately $450,000 grant project to LocationMind, Inc. to support the development of the Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Evaluation (PIVE) tool designed to assist policymakers, planners, and other stakeholders in disaster management and urban planning. The grant project was awarded as part of the Technology Innovation Challenge financed by ADB's High-Level Technology (HLT) Fund which aims to promote the adoption of HLT and innovative solutions to address development challenges in ADB’s developing member countries. PIVE is a framework designed to transform available data on local environments, communities, mobility, and people into digital assets that provide valuable insights that can support efforts to design inclusive cities and improve the resilience of vulnerable communities. In this brown bag session organized by the Urban Sector Group, Senior Urban Specialist Hong Soo Lee joined by Professor Ryosuke Shibasaki, Satoshi Miyazawa, Mariko Shibasaki, and Deepanshu Agarwal to discuss how ADB’s Innovation Hub and the Tokyo-based startup are working with national and local government units, NGOs, and academic institutions to develop and implement the PIVE tool in two pilot areas in the Philippines Program and Learning Materials 09 June 2023 Session / Activity Title Speaker(s) Photo Gallery: Design Inclusive Cities with Data-informed Tool This is a compilation of photos during the brown bag session Moderator Hong Soo Lee,Senior Urban Specialist (Smart Cities), ADB 10:45 a.m.–10:48 a.m. (3 mins) Opening Remarks Dr. Susann Roth, Advisor, ADB Arturo Martinez, Jr., Statistician, ADB 10:48 a.m.–10:51 a.m. (3 mins) Brief Oveview - ADB Technology Innovation Challenge for Development 10:51 a.m.– 11:21 a.m (30 mins) Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Evaluation (PIVE) tool Ryosuke Shibasaki, Mariko Shibasaki, Deepanshu Agarwal, Satoshi Miyazawa 11:21 a.m.–11:42 a.m. (21 mins) Panel Discussion and Q&A Discussant: Byeongjo Kong, Digital Technology Specialist, ADB Moderator: Hong Soo Lee, Senior Urban Specialist (Smart Cities), ADB 11:42 a.m.–11:45 a.m. (3 mins) Closing Remarks Arturo Martinez, Statistician, ADB Disclaimer The views expressed on this website are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views and policies of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) or its Board of Governors or the governments they represent.
