Series: Asian Impact: ADB Research in Action From Data to Decisions: Nature for Development 26 February 2026 Data is one of three essential pillars—alongside governance and policy—for recognizing nature as a core factor of production and scaling nature finance to support its conservation. Drawing on the Asia-Pacific Climate Report 2025: Unlocking Nature for Development, this webinar examined how high-quality environmental data strengthens economic and financial decision-making by correcting market failures and internalizing environmental externalities. The session discussed the need for reliable, decision-grade ecological data that are structured and interoperable with economic statistics, supporting valuation, monitoring, and adaptive management of natural capital. It highlighted how better data can inform policy, investment, and financing strategies that integrate nature into development planning.
