From Data to Action: Aligning Tools, Metrics and Methodologies to Measure Nature Risk and Resilience
28 October 2026

Armenia

Effective action on biodiversity and ecosystem degradation requires moving from growing volumes of data to consistent, decision-useful measures of nature-related risk, impact and resilience. This side event will explore how different initiatives are helping translate data, tools and methodologies into practical approaches for financial institutions, policymakers and investors.

The panel will bring together perspectives from central banks, JRC through the Copernicus-based tools, FAO/WRI, and the insurance/reinsurance sector to discuss how approaches can be better aligned, where gaps remain, and how to improve interoperability and comparability. Particular attention will be given to ecosystem condition and resilience, physical and transition risks, scenario analysis, metrics and MRV, and how these can support investment decisions and risk management.

The discussion will focus on the practical question: how do we move from data and methodologies to action - mobilising finance to reduce nature-related risks and strengthen ecosystem resilience?
