Series: Asian Impact: ADB Research in Action Building Sustainable Investment Policies: Lessons from Uzbekistan 2 December 2025 A comprehensive, long-term approach to investment policy was key to unlocking the potential of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Asia and the Pacific. Such an approach looked beyond individual reforms to build a coherent investment framework that encompassed legal and regulatory systems, investment promotion and facilitation, taxation, corporate governance, and participation in global value chains. It also laid the foundation for attracting quality FDI that balanced growth and sustainability objectives. Building on Uzbekistan’s Roadmap for Sustainable Investment Policy Reforms, this Asian Impact webinar explored Uzbekistan’s recent experience and drew lessons for other Asian economies that sought to strengthen competitiveness and attract sustainable investment. It also examined how strategic partnerships within the investment policy ecosystem could have maximized collective resources and expertise.
