Briefing on the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction 2022 (GAR2022): Our World at Risk – Transforming Governance for a Resilient Future

22 September 2022

COVID-19 and climate change are making it clear that disaster impacts increasingly cascade across geographies and sectors. Despite progress, risk creation is outstripping risk reduction. To change course, new approaches to governance systems and an understanding of systemic risk are needed. The session presented the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction: Our World at Risk: Transforming Governance for a Resilient Future 2022, which explored how structures are evolving to better address systemic risk and shows how governance systems can evolve to reflect the interconnected value of people, the planet, and prosperity.

The event was jointly organized by SDCD and UNDRR.
