ADBI-PPS-OECD Workshop on Public Procurement for Innovation

17 February 2022

Public procurement is commonly used by governments in developed countries to promote innovation and socio-economic policy objectives, including small and medium-sized enterprise development and green growth. However, the strategic use of public procurement as a public policy instrument for innovation is still uncommon in Asia and requires a strong enabling environment to overcome associated challenges.

Cohosted by ADBI, the Public Procurement Service (PPS) of the Republic of Korea, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), this workshop will examine keys to building innovation-boosting public procurement systems. Session 1 will discuss public procurement-innovation dynamics and the strategic use of public procurement to drive innovation and sustainable growth. Session 2 will spotlight the features of an effective public procurement system, related reforms for strengthening innovation, and implementation solutions.
