The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is developing water resources projects in Pakistan, where increasing water security and food production is seen to benefit the country. A water resources information system using innovative remote sensing and GIS technology will be introduced. To ensure the efficient use of these technologies, it is critical that concerned parties share their knowledge and experience of holistic water resources management covering policy/strategy, finance, technologies, and solutions applicable to Pakistan.
For this purpose, ADB organized a knowledge dialogue and partnership program in Tokyo, Japan that comprises the following subcomponents:
- Dialogue between the Government of Japan and the Government of Pakistan to exchange views and knowledge on how to incorporate innovative features to the water resource management projects;
- Knowledge dialogue with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency on the latest space-based technologies and solutions applicable to Pakistan;
- Knowledge dialogue with the University of Tokyo on the latest GIS technologies and solutions applicable to Pakistan; and
- Knowledge Partnership Forum with Japan Bosai Platform for Disaster Risk Management, and the Government of Japan, and others.
