ADB-Led Sessions During the International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation 29 to 31 May 2025 Tajikistan The high-level International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, held in Dushanbe from 29-31 May 2025, emphasized the urgency of addressing glacial melt, calving, and retreat. It advanced global efforts through scientific collaboration, policy alignment, and multi-stakeholder engagement. The Conference supported the implementation of UN resolutions on the “International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025” and the “Decade of Action for Cryosphere Sciences, 2025–2034” by mobilizing resources and fostering international cooperation. It strengthened partnerships among governments, scientists, civil society, and other stakeholders, with a focus on transboundary collaboration. Key outcomes included: The Dushanbe Glaciers High-Level Declaration, calling for actionable commitments and strategic recommendations to be presented at COP30 in Brazil A Final Declaration and Summary, outlining initiatives and partnerships to implement the UN General Assembly’s resolution on glacier preservation Enhanced awareness and technical capacity-building for climate-responsive solutions. These outcomes will be formally submitted to the UN General Assembly in 2025.
