ADB Data Room: Nutrition for Food Systems Transformation The persistent triple burden of malnutrition—undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and overweight/obesity—continues to challenge countries across Asia and the Pacific. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) supports addressing malnutrition through its $40 billion renewed ambition for food systems transformation and its global nutrition pledges. Achieving the bank’s food and nutrition security goal requires the systematic integration of nutrition across key sectors including agriculture, health, education, social protection, gender, climate resilience, and water and sanitation. The agriculture sector plays a pivotal role in advancing ADB’s food and nutrition security goals by ensuring the availability, affordability, and accessibility of diverse, nutritious foods for all people at all times.
