IEA projects RE new capacity to grow by 30% in 2023

Propelled by the global energy crisis and concerns over energy security, economies around the world look to deploy renewable energy at an unprecedented rate led by solar photovoltaics and onshore wind. The International Energy Agency in its Renewable Energy Market Update, has even called this rise the largest ever.

New renewable capacity addition is set to increase to 440 gigawatts in 2023 up by 107 from last year. It is also expected to follow this trajectory in 2024, with the world’s total renewable capacity to reach 4,500 gigawatts.
