An assessment tool for building back strong and sustainable from the COVID-19 pandemic published

The Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Division has released an assessment tool that provides a recovery framework interfacing various objectives in climate, low-carbon growth, and resilience.​​​​​​​This tool will help ADB developing member countries seize the opportunity presented by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) to shift their development trajectories towards a low-carbon growth path that will have addressed climate change mitigation and adaptation goals.​​​​​​​​​In particular, the tool provides different sets of actions, approaches, and interventions on how a country will build back better according to each of their unique contexts, resources, and capacities. The criteria for building back better include:Addresses vulnerabilitiesTargets COVID-19 affected sectors and populationsTargets disadvantaged groups (e.g. regions, women)Builds long-term resilienceSupports development of low-carbon high-level technologySupports long-term decarbonizationAligns with national policies and plans
