Yesun Choung

Yesun Choung is a Senior Manager in the Global Projects Division of Korea National Railway (KNR), where she leads the development and implementation of international railway projects with a focus on Central Asia. Since 2020, she has managed and supported projects in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Turkmenistan covering urban rail, high-speed rail, railway electrification, signaling modernization, and smart mobility. Her recent work includes the Smart Mobility Development Project and the Urban Rail Preparatory Task Force in Dushanbe, the feasibility study for the Tashkent–Samarkand High-Speed Railway, pre-feasibility studies for railway modernization in Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, and the organization of the Railway Academy for Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. She has also presented Korea’s railway cooperation with Central Asian countries at the Korea–Central Asia Cooperation Forum. Earlier in her career, she held technical and management positions at KNR, where she gained extensive experience in high-speed rail construction, legal affairs, education planning, and railway asset management.

Ms. Choung holds dual bachelor’s degrees in artificial intelligence studies and big data studies from The Cyber University of Korea, a master’s degree in political science with a concentration in public policy from Iowa State University in the United States, a bachelor’s degree in law from Ewha Womans University, and a bachelor’s degree in food and microbial technology from Seoul Women’s University, both in the Republic of Korea.
