He started his career at Yokohama City in 1983, where he was in charge of the construction of the Paci co Yokohama convention complex, budget compilation and formulation of the Yokohama Comprehensive Plan. He also handled Yokohama’s economic policy during the economic downturn precipitated by the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy in 2008 and Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. In 2011, as the Executive Director of the Business Management Support Department, he developed and implemented promotion and support policies for small and medium-size businesses in Yokohama. Later, as Deputy Director General of Economic A airs Bureau, he formulated the Yokohama Comprehensive Plan and coordinated the policies for economic revitalization of Yokohama through attraction of enterprises as well as by promoting special economic zones, the industrial development of IoT, life innovation and entrepreneurial ventures. Since April 2017, he is the Director General of the Climate Change Policy Headquarters. He also enjoys tennis.
