President , Hanyang University Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Woo-Seung Kim is a leader who has leaded industry-academic cooperation at Korean universities through the innovation of Hanyang University and the co-chair of the National Industry-Academic Cooperation Committee with the current Prime Minister. He established a successful industry-academic research cluster by attracting companies and research institutes to Hanyang University's new campus. He advocated pragmatism in college education, introducing Industry-Cooperative problem-solving methodology in education. Recently, Hanyang University has expanded various programs to encourage and nurture student start-ups. Hanyang University is a 4-year comprehensive private university with around 33,000 students and one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea (146 in QS [Quacquarelli Symonds] ranking in 2020), with more than 3,000 international students currently studying in degree programs. He authored more than 260 articles including conference papers. His research interests are Thermal and fluid flow in Desalination system and CCS (CO2 Capture and Storage). He was the President of the Korean Society for Industry & Academy Collaboration (2011-2015), member on National Science and Technology Council (2008-2010). He had been a recipient of several awards including Medal for services in Industry-University cooperation in 2011.
