Wesley De Witt is a Geographer and founding member of the World Bank's Geo-Enabling Initiative for Monitoring and Supervision (GEMS). He leads the GEMS engagement in the East Asia & Pacific Region and heads a team of geographers, developers, and technical specialists dedicated to furthering the support the GEMS team offers to its partners and clients globally.
Before supporting WBG operations, Wesley joined the Bank with the goal of using non-traditional data sources to fill gaps in complex but data-poor environments. This work led to an increased demand for building client capacity in digital and geo-referenced data collection for improved project implementation monitoring and accountability. Before joining the WBG, Wesley supported local governments in conducting economic research to better inform policy-making decisions. He holds a master's degree in Geographic Information Science and baccalaureate degrees in Economics and Environmental Policy.
