Uttam Kumar Shahi

Uttam Kumar Shahi is a Director at the BIMSTEC Secretariat, the institutional body of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). In this role, he supports the coordination and implementation of regional cooperation initiatives among BIMSTEC member states, particularly in areas such as economic cooperation, connectivity, and development collaboration across the Bay of Bengal region.

Before joining the Secretariat, Shahi served in the Government of India’s foreign service, contributing to diplomatic engagement and regional cooperation initiatives. At the BIMSTEC Secretariat, he works with member countries to advance policy dialogue, facilitate technical cooperation, and strengthen partnerships aimed at promoting regional integration and sustainable development among the seven BIMSTEC member states: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
