Mr. Ugyen Thaye is the Chief Engineer of the Energy Resource Development Division (ERDD), Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan. He had been working as a Chief Engineer since 2019. In addition to the Chief Engineer, he also serves as the Project Director to Sephu Solar Project and as the Engineer Officer to the Hon’ble Minister for 1020 MW Punatsangchhu – II Hydroelectric Project.

He has Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from India, Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Studies and Masters in Renewable Energy from Murdoch University, Western Australia. Prior to joining as the Chief Engineer of the ERDD, he worked as the Chief Engineer in Planning and Coordination Division of the Department of Hydropower and Power Systems, and as the Project Manager in the Department of Renewable Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
