Director, ADB Profile / Bio Mr. Takeshi Ueda has 25 years of professional experience, including 18 years with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Since joining ADB in 2008, he has held various roles in the agriculture and natural resources sector, formulating projects across Cambodia, Mongolia, the People’s Republic of China, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. In 2024, he was appointed Director of the Emerging Areas Team under the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development (AFNR) Sector Office. In 2025, he was appointed as Director of the South Asia, and Agriculture Value Chain and Nutrition Team, overseeing the South Asia portfolio of AFNR and initiatives on agriculture value chains and nutrition. Before ADB, Mr. Ueda worked with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He holds a doctoral degree in agricultural economics from Pennsylvania State University, and master’s degrees in economics from Michigan State University and Soka University.
