Svilen Konov has a degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has worked as a clinical trials methodologist on drug development, predominantly in the field of HIV and HCV as well as concomitant diseases, with large pharmaceutical companies and has developed research protocols and analysis plans. He has experience working with the EU regulator, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on drug approval. In addition. Svilen worked with the World Health Organization on Emergency Medical Services (EMS). He has been a long-standing member of the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) guidelines writing committee. Until recently for close to five years he managed the largest United Nations Development Programme medical project that involved procurement of medicines and medical devices for a budget of beyond half a billion USD and also the programmatic response to the health system reform in Ukraine.
