Profile / Bio: 

Sumit Pokhrel is Environment Specialist of the Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Division in the South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He is responsible for preparing and administering projects and programs and engaging in the areas of environment, and climate change.

Mr. Pokhrel has over twenty years of professional experience in environmental program/ project development and management working in the south, southeast, and east Asia, and the United States. His experiences include Green Growth, energy conservation, renewable energy promotion, low carbon transport, climate-friendly agri-business value chain, natural capital, biodiversity landscape management, strategic environmental planning, environmental quality monitoring, compliance, and pollution control. 

His conversance with multiple sectors integrating environment and climate change in energy, transport, and agriculture sector development plans and investment projects, leads in providing services to agencies such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union (EU), US Agency for International Development (USAID), US Environment Protection Agency (EPA), US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), US Army Corps of Engineers (ACE), World Bank (WB) and World Health Organization (WHO) and worked in partnership with several governments and international development organizations.
