Profile / Bio

Steven Setiawan is currently serving as Co-Thematic Focal Point of the Climate Action Working Group of the Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) to UNEP. He has accumulated seven years of experience in air quality issues, particularly in preventing open waste burning in Indonesia through a community-based circular economy. He earned his Double Master's Degree in Circular Economy from Leiden University and the University of Graz. Steven is currently actively advocating for meaningful youth participation at the science-policy panel on chemicals, waste, and pollution and other ongoing multilateral environmental negotiations, including negotiations towards the global plastics treaty.
