Shohei Okano is an Environment and Carbon Market Specialist in the Climate Change, Resilience, and Environment Cluster of Asian Development Bank. He manages the Japan Fund for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JFJCM), works on air quality management, and collaborates with Japan’s Ministry of the Environment on environmental and carbon market issues. He previously served 20 years at the Ministry, covering GHG inventory, blue carbon, climate adaptation, GHG observing satellite (GOSAT series), climate negotiations, disaster waste management, and environmental standards. He holds MSc degrees in Public Policy, Finance & Investment, and Fundamental Physics.
